“I’ve always played some form of sport, with football and squash being my main focus. I only really started running in my mid-thirties but quickly became aware that distance running didn’t always complement these other sports. Too many pulled hamstrings unfortunately! Sport in my 40’s became squash, golf and distance running, until I discovered triathlon having watched the Ironman at Sherborne.
Becoming a member of a local triathlon club facilitated access to BTF qualified coaches and with the knowledge and experience of other club members, it enabled me to successfully complete my own personal challenges. This in itself initiated my desire to want to be more involved in triathlon sport.
My coaching journey started in 2015, primarily focussing on indoor swim sessions alongside being the active lead for a small social Saturday morning bike ride group. I’ve recently completed the British Triathlon Level 2 Diploma which allows me to provide more 1-2-1 coaching within the club environment.
As a coach, I enjoy seeing all athletes realise their aspirations and dreams, but particularly athletes new to the sport, who are keen, enthusiastic and wanting to challenge themselves.”
“I am a founder member of this great club, and a Level 2 BTF Coach since 2013.
Having completed many triathlon events at both short & 70.3 distances, I now enjoy training and participating in long distance swim events and look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience across the Club.
After a personal break, since the 2020 COVID lockdown, I have re-found my enthusiasm for the sport of triathlon and I am looking forward to encouraging everyone in this sport. Liz "
“I’m a former hockey player, cricketer and runner that came to triathlon late. Since 2001, I’ve progressed through triathlon race distances from sprint to Ironman and I am still developing my skills in all four disciplines.
My coaching philosophy is that it is more important to finish than to win. As an athlete, you can expect your coach to be prepared, to provide technical advice and guidance and to observe and monitor your progress.
As a coach, my aim will be to use demonstrations, drills and other tools to ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, that you:
Finishing is more important than winning!"
"I'm a 29-year-old engineer at the Numatic site in chard, famous for the development of the Henry vacuum cleaner.
Having been surrounded by fitness and sport my whole life, playing football and Golf (Long Sutton Junior and Club champion at 17) in earlier years, I have now competed in triathlon and endurance events, for the last 4 years, including Ironman Wales (twice), 10k swims and an 85-mile ultra-marathon around the southwest coastal path.
Between football, golf and triathlon, I was heavily involved with powerlifting and bodybuilding, where I learnt so much about nutrition.
With an obsession for improving and learning, I am here to help everyone no matter what ability so please reach out if you have any queries regarding training, coaching or nutrition."
